PvP tier list

Updated 31 October 2026

How we rank

This is a pre-launch prediction for level-60 PvP: world PvP, duels and battlegrounds, in pre-raid gear. We weigh control (stuns, fears, roots, silences), survivability, burst, and how much a spec can do on its own without a healer behind it. Group value in battlegrounds counts as well.

The ranking leans mainly on well-established Classic Era PvP experience, adjusted for the Forever talent changes we can see in the game client. One caveat: the client’s Forever talent data is partly stale. Many talents only ship rank-1 text, and server hotfixes will change the trees. So we only react to clear shifts. We will update this list after launch.

  • S: Wins most matchups on its own and shapes team fights.
  • A: Strong, but with clear counters or a need for support.
  • B: Can contribute, but depends on matchup, gear or a healer.
  • C: Brings niche utility only.

S tier

Subtlety Rogue: Stun-locks, Preparation and stealth openers make it the classic duel king. Forever adds 10% Attack Power from Deadliness, a 6% chance to avoid spells and ranged attacks from Heightened Senses, and a Garrote usable from any angle.

Mage (Frost): Roots, Polymorph, Ice Block and burst from range. The new Ice Barrier damage buff and Precision make it even harder to escape.

Shadow Priest: Silence now also interrupts, and Psychic Scream and self-healing remain strong. The client’s Shadowform mana changes would fix the old weakness of running out of mana. It is also the new owner of Shadow Word: Death.

Affliction Warlock: Fear, DoTs that wear opponents down, and a Curse of Exhaustion that now slows by 30%. Wrack and Soul Siphon add pressure.

Demonology Warlock: The Soul Link tank build stays extremely hard to kill. The stronger Master Demonologist (Voidwalker now gives 10% physical damage reduction) makes it even tougher in duels.

A tier

Arms Warrior: Mortal Strike and Intercept, plus a faster Intercept and a Berserker Rage that now breaks roots in Forever. It does need a healer to reach its ceiling.

Restoration Druid: The best flag carrier and a slippery healer, thanks to forms and HoTs. Still very strong in battlegrounds.

Feral Druid: Cat mobility and a Bear charge interrupt give Feral more control than it had in Classic. A good roamer and flag carrier.

Balance Druid: Entangling Roots now hits extra targets via Overgrowth, and Nature’s Grace is faster. Kiting is good if the burst holds up.

Elemental Shaman: Lava Burst, the new Elemental Reach and a long-range Totemic Projection make shocks and burst scarier. Purge and Grounding still keep it in demand.

Enhancement Shaman: Windfury burst and the new Spirit Weapons give it a parry and lower threat. Swings are random, but it can delete people.

Discipline Priest: Power Infusion, Mana Burn and the new Confounding Flash (an AoE confuse) and Contingency Plan make it a sturdy battleground support.

Holy Paladin: Blessing of Freedom, Divine Shield and the new Voice of Truth (immune to interrupts for 6 seconds) make it very hard to lock down.

Assassination Rogue: Cold Blood plus Seal Fate burst can kill in a single stun. It has less control than Subtlety.

Marksmanship Hunter: Scatter Shot, range and the new Sniper Shot are strong in open battlegrounds. It struggles once a melee player closes the gap.

B tier

Combat Rogue: Good sustained damage, and Blade Flurry is great in group fights. It lacks Subtlety’s opener control.

Destruction Warlock: Big Shadow Bolt crits but less staying power. Pyroclasm is gone from the client tree.

Mage (Fire): Burst from range, but less control than Frost. Blast Wave now slows too.

Arcane Mage: Arcane Shielding helps against casters. Its burst depends on how Arcane Blast is tuned.

Beast Mastery Hunter: Intimidation now also boosts pet crit, and pets add pressure. Still fragile in melee range.

Survival Hunter: Counterattack now deals weapon damage, and Strider Kick adds mobility. It has better melee answers than other Hunters but still has to prove itself.

Fury Warrior: High damage but no Mortal Strike, so healers can keep up with it.

Retribution Paladin: Very durable, and Holy Strike plus Vengeance add burst. It still lacks the mobility to catch kiting classes.

Holy Priest: A strong healer, but without Discipline’s tools it is easier to focus down.

Restoration Shaman: Nature’s Swiftness, Purge and totems help, but it lacks Druid mobility.

C tier

Protection Paladin and Protection Warrior: Good flag defenders, and Concussion Blow or Templar’s Bulwark have their uses. They lack the damage to win most fights.
