PvE DPS tier list

Updated 31 October 2026

How we rank

This is a pre-launch prediction for level-60 PvE: endgame dungeons and the first raid tier, in pre-raid best-in-slot gear with normal raid buffs and consumables. We weigh sustained single-target damage first. We also count AoE, how much the raid relies on the spec’s buffs and debuffs, and how gear-hungry the spec is.

The ranking leans mainly on well-established Classic Era raid experience, adjusted for the Forever talent changes we can see in the game client. One caveat: the client’s Forever talent data is partly stale. Many talents only ship rank-1 text, and server hotfixes will change the trees. So we only react to clear shifts. Hybrid specs got the biggest visible buffs, so they are the most likely to move. We will update this list after launch once real logs exist.

  • S: Top damage and a guaranteed raid spot.
  • A: Competitive damage. A good player will rarely be behind.
  • B: Solid, or brings valuable utility, but trails the top on damage.
  • C: Playable in a well-geared group. Expect to be carried by your buffs, not your meter.

S tier

Fury Warrior: Scales hardest with gear and buffs, as it always has. Improved Slam no longer resets your swing in Forever, which opens up new rotations. The new Death Wish downside (5% more damage taken) also hurts less than losing armor did.

Combat Rogue: Simple, consistent, top-end melee damage. Hack and Slash merges the old weapon specializations, so more weapon types now work.

Mage (Frost): Early raid bosses are often fire-resistant, so Frost is the safe Mage pick on day one. The new Ice Barrier damage buff and Precision (hit for all spells) add to that.

Destruction Warlock: Shadow Bolt spam remains one of the strongest ranged setups. Emberstorm (+10% Fire) and the new Apocalypse talent, which links Fire and Shadow crits, show Blizzard pushing this tree further.

A tier

Mage (Fire): The new Fire Power scales with your Fire effects on the target, and Accelerant speeds up Fireball. Once immunity-heavy bosses are behind us, Fire may claim S.

Arcane Mage: Arcane Mind now boosts Arcane crit damage, and Arcane Impact and Arcane Wrath are new. This is the biggest unknown in the Mage trio and could end up anywhere from A to S.

Marksmanship Hunter: Barrage now covers Aimed Shot, and Ranged Weapon Specialization has a much bigger value. Expect strong early damage that tails off as melee gear scales.

Assassination Rogue: The Venom finisher and a stronger Improved Kidney Shot give poisons a bigger share of damage. A real alternative to Combat for the first time.

Shadow Priest: The client shows Shadowform with half-cost Shadow spells and +100% Shadow crit damage, plus a much larger Darkness. That would turn Shadow from a debuff bot into a real damage dealer. This is the most data-dependent placement on the list.

Affliction Warlock: Wrack and Soul Siphon give it a real rotation. It is limited mostly by debuff slots in big raids.

B tier

Balance Druid: Moonkin Form now buffs the whole raid’s spell crit, and Moonglow has a much bigger mana cut. Worth bringing, even if the damage is mid-pack.

Elemental Shaman: Lava Burst and the reworked Elemental Mastery (faster casts, no Chain Lightning cooldown) fix the old one-big-crit design. Mana is still the question.

Feral Druid: Bigger Savage Fury, cheaper Shred and Leader of the Pack across the whole raid make Cat a real raid DPS. It needs energy tuning to rise further.

Arms Warrior: Brings Mortal Strike and the new Weaponmaster talent, but Fury does more damage once gear arrives. The main draw is for raids that want mace armor penetration.

Beast Mastery Hunter: Pet damage helps early, and Summon Hawk is new. It falls behind Marksmanship as gear improves.

Survival Hunter: Lightning Reflexes (+15% Agility) and the 3% Killer Instinct are big. Melee tools like Strider Kick and Lacerate make it a curiosity to test.

Demonology Warlock: Master Demonologist with an Imp now adds 10% Fire damage, and Demonic Sacrifice lasts two hours. Viable, but not yet ahead of Destruction.

Subtlety Rogue: Deadliness (+10% Attack Power) and the new Hemorrhage make Subtlety a raiding option. Its value depends on Rupture tuning.

C tier

Retribution Paladin: Holy Strike, the stacking Vengeance rework and stronger Holy Power are real improvements. It is still unproven against the Classic baseline, so we stay cautious until we see logs.

Enhancement Shaman: Stormstrike now buffs your next spell, which encourages weaving. It is fun and brings totems, but damage remains the open question.
