The talent trees still change between beta builds. We re-check this build on launch day (4 November 2026).

Talent descriptions come from the game client files (build 1.60.1.70707). Some talent values are applied by the game server and can differ in game; ranks marked as Classic Era data are not in the Forever client yet. The trees include the beta's server hotfixes (as of 2026-10-30) from the talentsforever.com data export (CC BY 4.0); icons and names come from the game files.

Talent order by level

  1. 10–14Bane×5
  2. 15–19Aftermath×5
  3. 20–24Ruin×5
  4. 25Shadowburn
  5. 26Conflagrate
  6. 27–29Agonizing Flames×3
  7. 30Fire and Brimstone

Alternatives

  • Mana-saving version: Cataclysm 3 and Destructive Reach 2 instead of Ruin, plus Suppression from Affliction if you have Talented points.
  • Bane of Havoc instead of Fire and Brimstone for dungeons: 15% of your damage on other targets is copied to the cursed one.
  • Solo with Talented: Suppression 3, Improved Life Tap 2 and a point of Improved Corruption.
  • Talented (+5): Suppression 5 for hit and lower threat is the most common use.

Rotation & priority

  1. Send your pet first.
  2. Immolate and Corruption; add Bane of Agony only on targets that will live past 20 seconds.
  3. Shadow Bolt as filler.
  4. Conflagrate shortly before Immolate runs out, then reapply Immolate.
  5. Shadowburn as the killing blow to get a Soul Shard back.
  6. Life Tap with spare health; Drain Life when low while soloing.
  7. Packs: Immolate two or three targets, Hellfire on 3+ grouped mobs, Bane of Havoc on the last mob to die.

Stat priority

  1. Spell Power
  2. Intellect and Spirit
  3. Stamina
  4. Spell Hit and crit (Ruin doubles your crit bonus) when gear offers them

How the build works

This Destruction Warlock build mixes faster casts with burst. Bane takes 0.5 seconds off Shadow Bolt and Immolate. Aftermath raises Immolate’s initial damage by 50% and makes Conflagrate Daze the target, slowing it by 50% for 5 seconds. Conflagrate consumes your Immolate for an 88 to 110 Fire damage hit, and you reapply Immolate right after.

Ruin doubles the crit damage bonus of your Destruction spells, and Agonizing Flames adds 10% damage to all of them plus 10% crit to Searing Pain. Shadowburn is an instant finisher; if the target dies within 8 seconds you get a Soul Shard back. The 21st point goes into Fire and Brimstone, the first point you can spend in row 5, for 8% more crit on Conflagrate.

The main disagreement is Ruin. The most common talentsforever order and one guide take all five ranks by 30. Another guide prefers Cataclysm (10% cheaper Destruction spells) and Destructive Reach, arguing crit is too low at this level for Ruin to pay off. If you run out of mana often, try that version.

Leveling tips

Put levels 10 to 14 into Bane, 15 to 19 into Aftermath and 20 to 24 into Ruin. Shadowburn comes at 25 and Conflagrate at 26. Before Conflagrate, the loop is Immolate, Corruption, Shadow Bolt and a wand finish.

From the late twenties, the loop is Immolate, Conflagrate, Immolate again, then Shadow Bolt or wand, with Shadowburn as the killing blow. Destruction burns mana faster than Affliction, so Life Tap whenever your health is high and use Drain Life when you need to recover. Keep a Voidwalker out until you are confident with pulls. In dungeons, this is the Warlock spec with real AoE.

Changes in WoW Forever

Destruction changed a lot from Classic. Bane now also speeds up Incinerate, Aftermath is about Immolate and Conflagrate, Agonizing Flames is a flat damage talent, and Bane of Havoc and Fire and Brimstone are new. Molten Skin (10% less damage taken) is new in row 2, and Incinerate becomes a talent at the bottom of the tree.

Toward level 60

Provisional. The most planned level 60 Destruction build is 5/11/35: Suppression 5, Demonic Embrace, Fel Vitality and Demonic Sacrifice in Demonology, and a deep Destruction tree ending in Shadow and Flame and Incinerate. This plan has more agreement than most, but it is still a calculator plan from the level 30 beta.

FAQ

What is the best Destruction Warlock build in WoW Forever?

At level 30, 0/0/21 with Bane 5, Aftermath 5, Ruin 5, Shadowburn, Conflagrate, Agonizing Flames 3 and Fire and Brimstone 1. A cheaper-to-run variant swaps Ruin for Cataclysm and Destructive Reach.

Is Destruction good for leveling?

Yes, it is a solid alternative to Affliction. It kills faster per cast but uses more mana and has less healing, so expect more Life Tap and drinking.

What stats does a Destruction Warlock need?

Spell Power first, then Intellect and Spirit for mana, then Stamina. Take hit and crit whenever gear offers them.

Is Destruction Warlock good in dungeons?

It has the best AoE of the three Warlock specs at 30: Immolate on several targets, Hellfire, and Bane of Havoc if you take it. Watch your threat, since this build has no threat reduction.
