Why this build
How the build works
This Holy Priest build is made for healing groups. Divine Fury takes 0.5 seconds off Smite, Holy Fire, Heal and Greater Heal, which makes your big heals react faster. Improved Healing cuts 15% from the mana cost of Lesser Heal, Heal and Greater Heal, so you can cast them more often in long dungeons.
Holy Specialization adds 5% crit to Holy spells, and Inspiration turns those crits into 25% extra armor on the target for 15 seconds, which matters most on the tank. Twilight Focus gives your spells a 47% chance to ignore pushback, which helps when mobs hit you.
Holy Nova is your group tool: instant, no threat, and it damages enemies and heals party members within 10 yards. Holy Binding, after its 30 Oct rework, is passive: each Flash Heal on someone else heals you for 50% as much, with no threat. Litany of Light, the level-30 point, refunds 5% of a heal’s base cost when it differs from your previous heal.
Agreement on this build is low. Holy Binding changed after every published level-30 build was made, so its value is still untested.
Leveling tips
Holy is slow for questing, so plan to heal dungeons for most of your experience. Holy Specialization and Divine Fury come first because they also speed up Smite while you quest. Holy Nova at 20 lets you handle groups of weak mobs and helps in packs.
Solo, open with Power Word: Shield, Smite, add Shadow Word: Pain, and finish with your wand. In dungeons, keep Renew on the tank and switch to Heal or Greater Heal when damage is steady.
Changes in WoW Forever
Litany of Light, Searing Light and Prayer of Mending are new Holy talents. Binding Heal is gone as an active spell talent: on 30 Oct it became Holy Binding, a passive Flash Heal self-heal. Improved Healing now also discounts Penance and Prayer of Mending. All talent text here includes the Priest hotfixes of 30 Oct.
Toward level 60
Planned Holy builds sit around 18/33/0 to 19/32/0: Spirit of Redemption, Spiritual Guidance, Spiritual Healing and Prayer of Mending in Holy, with Twin Disciplines, Mental Strength and Meditation from Discipline. One sim-based build goes as far as 16/35/0. None of these have been played at 60 yet.
