How the build works
The 30 Oct hotfix reworked the Feral tree, and every Feral guide we found was written before it. Our Feral Druid build keeps the 15 points that several guides agree on and fills the last six from the current tree.
The agreed core: Ferocity takes 5 Rage or Energy off Maul, Swipe, Claw and Rake, so you can attack more often. Savage Fury adds 10% damage to Claw, Rake, Shred, Maul and Swipe. Sharpened Claws gives 6% crit in Cat and Bear Form. Feral Swiftness makes Cat Form 30% faster and adds 4% dodge. Feral Instinct boosts Swipe by 30% and makes Prowl harder to detect. Feral Charge closes gaps and interrupts casters.
Here is how we spent the last six points:
- Predatory Strikes 3: +150% of your level as Attack Power in Cat and Bear Form, which is 45 Attack Power at level 30. It is the biggest flat damage gain left in rows 1 to 4.
- Blood Frenzy 2: needs Sharpened Claws, which you already have. Cat crits from combo-point abilities always add an extra combo point, and Bear crits give 5 extra Rage. It pairs well with the crit from Sharpened Claws.
- Leader of the Pack 1: the first row 5 talent you can take. It gives you and your party 3% crit in either form, and it feeds Blood Frenzy too.
We passed on Lacerate (mainly for Bear tanking) and Predatory Discipline (it only matters once you have plenty of spare Energy at Ferocious Bite). Furor and Shredding Attacks are good, but they would mean dropping core points. They are the best uses of Talented points.
Leveling tips
You get Bear Form at 10 and Cat Form at 20, so take Ferocity first, then Feral Instinct for Bear Swipe. Feral Swiftness and Sharpened Claws follow as Cat arrives. From 10 to 20, a good Bear pull is two Wraths and Moonfire at range, then shift, Enrage, Demoralizing Roar and Maul or Swipe.
After 20, play Cat for most pulls and switch to Bear when you pull too many mobs. Feral Charge works in both forms: in Cat to leap behind a target, in Bear to interrupt a caster. Keep Thorns up while solo.
Changes in WoW Forever
The 30 Oct hotfix removed Berserk and Improved Shifting Power and moved Primal Bite and Shifting Power to row 7. It added Lacerate and Predatory Discipline at row 4 and moved Furor into the Feral tree, swapping it with Heart of the Wild. Leader of the Pack now raises all crit types, so casters in your party benefit too.
Toward level 60
Provisional, low confidence. The most planned level 60 build is about 9/36/5: Genesis, Nature’s Majesty and Nature’s Reach from Balance; Predatory Strikes, Leader of the Pack, Natural Instinct, Rend and Tear, Natural Reaction and Primal Bite in Feral; and Heart of the Wild from Restoration. Shifting Power is the Cat-focused alternative to Primal Bite.
